The Enviromower was the first to make this possible. However, poor performance, short running time, long charging time, heavy weight & battery life deterioration were the price you paid for the convenience.

 

Now the development of the lithium ion battery has changed this.

Lithium Ion battery advantages -

  • Does not deteriorate if left discharged.
  • Does not need prolonged priming when new. One regular charge is all that's needed.
  • Relatively low self-discharge - self-discharge is less than half that of lead acid batteries.
  • Low Maintenance - no periodic discharge is needed; there is no memory.
  • Can provide very high current so applications such as power tools produce more power
  • Much lighter than lead acid batteries
  • Recharges in less than a tenth of the time
